It's the little things that mean the most.....

When I pray for these children my prayer is for them to have kind, loving hearts....this is our life...our journey...our Hardy Hearts....

big things for Riggs

This week has been an explosion of activity for Riggs!
He took his last field trip...ever...in elementary school to Biz town! It was such a fun day and I was so happy I got to be a part of it! He was picked as citizen of the day and I was picked as volunteer of the day! It was an awesome day!
He took his advanced placement tests at North Middle...pencils up!
He spent the day at North...on a scavenger hunt of the building....trying to open a locker with a combination....and he was happy to see a few of his buddies already in Middle school!
and finally he attended his first middle school dance! I gave them a cookie for after school snack that said "Happy 1st dance on it"...and a 12 pack of vanilla Cokes! I did not sneak into the dance and take pictures ( although I sure wanted to and I thought about it for sure!)
Lots happening as we get ready for North Middle!

spring recital countdown

Spring around here also means recitals!
We are two weeks away from recital and the girls are working so hard to perfect their routines!
We can't wait to see them shine!

Spring Track

Spring Track has been hard.....it's cold....the practices are monotonous and difficult...and the boys just are not into it.....
Tonight we took buddies to cheer them on at the meet...and that seemed to help a little....if you are going to be cold....you may as well do it with friends!
 The boys ran well......
It always helps when you have a cheering section all your own!

They just don't love track.....cross county is where it is at for them....and it sure makes a difference when you run with your heart! Dreaming of XC season already........

it's just one of my favorites.....

a friend of a friend gave this to me years ago.....and on rough days with people...with the world...I can go to this...and it seems to help make sense of anything.....it's just the best advice.....

back seat buddy

it's setting in....the fact that my days with my back seat buddy are numbered. Next year she will be at school all day and won't be right with me....all day every day...to run all the countless places we go! I am really going to miss her. It will be so weird next year to have an empty back seat during the day....someone has been there....for so long....and I will be up front by myself.....( sigh)

warmer days....

warm.....warmth....it's coming....
we are starting to get a few day of bare shoulders here and there.....

 barefoot sisters in the swing.....
and blooms and green are everywhere.....
I know it's not here to settle in yet...but I love that it gets closer everyday!

The last mile run

The mile run used to be such a big deal at Goshen...parents came, people cheered on the kids, it was a celebrated accomplishment but now it's just not...but for us it still is as celebrated as it used to be. The first time Riggs ran the mile run in second grade...was the first time we saw a glimpse of something he might be good at. It had not been the basketball, soccer, or t ball that we had already tried. At the time we thought he just was not good at those sports but what we later discovered is that he lacked the confidence he needed to excel at any sport. But running gave him that confidence and forever changed him...not only as an athlete, but as a person and it is a big part of the amazing kid he is today. So I was happy to be the only parent there ...watching him...as he ran his very last mile run at Goshen. I would not have missed it for the world. The Goshen mile run is something I will be forever grateful for.....

wrapping up Spring break...

With one last full day at the beach we headed to the dock for pictures.....it's become a tradition now....

and then we beached it all day long.....and the weather was warm and perfect!

Lila and I found some shells and had the best time...sifting and sorting them....just time together

It was the best...most perfect...last beach day....
We needed this after the few cold days we had.....

and it worked out well for Jenna because we were not on the road to watch Louisville play...she is a true fan...so I got behind her...because that's what you do for your best friend.....I never really got the "L" down but I did try for the record....My True blue Kentucky blood just didn't mesh with the "L"
We watched....they won (barely)!

and we spent the night packing up to go home!...... :(  but the memories we made were as solid and tender and real as they come.

It was a great spring break for sure and one I will forever carry in my heart!

forts, fun and talent shows!

The morning began with a trip to Fort Morgan! The littles loved exploring this place with so much history!
It was "Ware Red" day for Kevin Ware so we did that. I am not a Card fan but I sure felt sorry for that kid....so sad for him.
and then some beach time......

After dinner at Tacky Jacks...where laughter was plentiful......

It was time for the 2nd annual Talent show at the beach! The kids were so excited! After an amazing rap performance by me singing "Ice, Ice baby"......sorry you missed it......the evening was filled with dance performances......
 arm wrestling........
 basketball dribbling.......

 joke telling......
 belly dancing.......
and movie monologues....Colin and Riggs really rocked their skit from Hot Rod!
Everyone enjoyed their cash prize but most of all the fun time they had!
