It's no secret...XC changed Riggs...he finally found something he was good at...that was his thing...after looking for a while. Rollins is not Riggs. He jumps into anything and everything full force and usually is pretty good at it. Up until now running has been Riggs' EVERYthing and Rollins' SOMEthing.
There has been a shift....I could feel it. It's a shift we don't talk about as we watch Rollins break all of Riggs' 3rd grade records. They push each other....in a remarkable way...and we have watched as the gap between them gets smaller....as big brother holds on to his lead...his place...his whole world. And you cheer and celebrate both...each in their own way....the way you need to for two very different runners....two very different little boys.
With that shift every present we headed to Trimble County for the meet on Saturday. We got ready.....
and the Hardy boys got ready to run on this cold fall morning......each in their own way....
The race began.....and they were off....
hard to tell them apart...isn't it?
They ran their race.....but today they came in 1-2.
at one point passing Rollins going in the opposite direction as he headed down the hill to the finish line and Rolls headed up the hill to make the last turn....and Riggs yelled over... "good job Rollins!"....
My boys are big runners....but what is truly big is their hearts.....
Two very proud parents......with two very special little boys.....
and one happy team who won the meet!
So cheers to the shift as it brings us all closer together!
