in need of family time

It's been a long week....an emotional and tiring week...and I woke up today....hungry...hungry for family time...

So we invited some family over for just that.....

FAMILY TIME

I cooked a nice meal....and just having some of my family together made me happy.

 and the littles were happy when we all decided to play a family game of capture the flag.....

 and with full bellies....and full hearts.....we ended the night. Hope we can do it again soon!

Homemade Cakesters

Riggs totally gets it...that Homemade is better now...from Macaroni and Cheese to Snickerdoodles...he prefers mine...and I love that...truly I do! It gives me that whole June Cleaver feeling...and I picture him all grown up...happily married to a lovely woman..who is a good cook...but when he comes home he happily eats my cooking because it is better than hers...and we share a glance between us because he and I both know it...but it is our little secret...we don't want to hurt her feelings. Won't I be devestated when she is a better cook than me! ;).....But for now...sometimes it is hard...although I would never tell him.  He will ask for homemade this or homemade that...and with our busy lives it is sometimes easier to pop a Marie Calendar Mac and cheese in the microwave than to start from scratch...so sometimes I do and sometimes I can't...and I am sad when I can't...but it is what it is.....

One of his favorite treats are Oreo Cakesters.....so he has been asking me to make them...this Spring break I finally did!

 They were not pretty...and really messy...but they were too die for!!!

I love making him smile....

My cart runneth over!

Every time I leave the grocery...many, many people always comment on my cart...about how full it is...or that I must be having a party...sometimes I even have two carts...one I push...one I pull..and with 2-4 kids in tow I laugh about what a sight I must be! Oh well...what can I say...my cart runneth over!

The best....

Today the boys...including Colin who is pretty much a Hardy....told me I make the best Mac and Cheese and the best Orange cupcakes in the whole world...it makes my heart happy to hear such compliments from these little boys...I think they are the best!

Comfort Food

 The kids love my Mac and Cheese...EVERY TIME we have mac and Cheese they ask if it homemade. I will admit that I do enjoy Velveeta Shells and cheese...as do they...but they Love the creamy goodness of the home made version better. When they see I am making it it always brings a smile...or a yes! And that just make me feel good...making my mac and cheese a favorite comfort food of mine!

The cookie monster

Jeremy was out of town at a race this weekend so mom came by and took us out to dinner...Riggs loves to go out and eat and we rarely do...it is hard and then there is the money it takes to feed a family of 6! Riggs choose Cheddars for his favorite dessert- the cookie monster! Lila started to say she was going to throw up so I took her to the truck during the meal while everyone finished. We got the cookie monster to go and ate it at home...it was just as good! Maybe better!
