The kids and I went to Shelbyville to deliver Sarah Kate's books today. We choose the Center for Women and Families in Shelbyville as they service families in Oldham and Trimble Country. The center is very secure for the safety of the women and children inside. We were buzzed in and able to drop off the books to the director. Within the walls of the center you could almost feel the sadness...women and children with no where to go...coming in these doors for help...and maybe a way out to a new life. It is our hope that these books may find their way into the hand and life of children that need them...that they may offer an escape into a story for a moment...they they may bring a smile. It was a good little road trip for the kids and I to take as we get so close to Christmas.
