Comfort at the Comfy Cow
Riggs has had a rough couple of days...he really took it to heart when Coach told him he cut off Pirece at the Rumble. We are so thankful that we were able to talk to coach and now he understands our Riggs more. Our shy, unconfident, intraverted little guy did not come off that way to Coach...he saw him as over competitive, driven and, as he doesn't chit chat too much at practice, a bit of a punk who is out for himself alone. We could not have been more shocked! Our little boy? You mean the child that was told by a classmate to sit under a tree for three days at recess because he choose to play football instead of kickball one day ...and did it? My shy, unconfident, nervous little boy? It just broke my heart that the coach thought that even for a moment about him...so far from the truth and the tender and fragile core of Riggs. So today Sarah Kate and Rollins were playing at the Timmerings after school and so I picked up Riggs and Colin and off we went to Riggs' favorite spot....the Comfy Cow! He and Colin ordered up a dish of their delicious cake batter icecream and just sat and smiled and talked...talked about being 8, soccer, school. laughed about many "remember whens"...it was so nice to see Riggs smile...he definately finds comfort at the Comfy Cow! Before we left he said.."we picked the right day to come...tomorrow they are serving broccoli!"
