Sweet Rollins

ahhhh....sweet Rollins ( deep contented sigh of love)

He is just so thoughtful...this one.
He has fallen in love with Mrs. Noon's boys...Jacob and Patrick and they like him a little bit too! He walks Jacob to his class and wants to take him little gifts sometimes. Last week he wanted to know if he could bring Gatorade slushies to Jacob and Patrick and the rest of their soccer team. How can you say no to that? He organized and packed it all up and headed over to the park to meet up with them when the practice ended.
The team loved them and Rollins loved making these little ones smile! He fills my heart with such love and is such a giver. I hope he stays this sweet forever!

all heart Hardys

I see my boys try so hard at everything they do and I love that about them. Today at Track practice the practice was grueling ......literally an hour of no break...hill running. Kids were crying....falling down....Rollins went by once and was having trouble breathing...Riggs went by once with his had over this mouth trying to make the urge to throw up go away. As a mom, I just wanted to gather them up...put them in the truck and go home...and I believe if they had given me any indication that that is what they wanted I would have been all over it. I watched and waited for a look...a plea of the eyes...a word....some indication that it was too much...too hard...but they never did. They just kept going....and never stopped.
These boys are all heart.....and that is something you can't teach....I am so proud of their determination and their "I won't give up" attitudes.....they truly amaze me and inspire me.

Covered

It's the merry-hearted boys that make the best men!
-- Irish proverb

I hope this quote is true...and if it is...you might want to get your daughters in line to Marry this little fella because no one has a more Merry heart than he does! He is full of energy and love and goes non stop all day! He trips and falls.....bumps and runs into everything...he slips and slides...but he always keeps going...keeps moving with laughter and love in his heart!

His little legs....covered....as always with scrapes and bruises...the picture doesn't do them justice!

Supper Conversations

After a long day, when we gather at the table, you just never know what will be the topic of conversation. Tonight was a fun one...I just want to remember. we were sitting there and Sarah Kate asked why McBride was not on her birth day plate. She is after all, Sarah Kate McBride Hardy...truth is...it just wouldn't fit...but this opened up a conversation to baby names. Sarah Kate piped up that when she was a mommy she was going to name her babies Lilly McBride and David...because David is such a nice name. To my surprise Riggs announced without hesitation that his children would be named Hannah Jane Hardy (which is what he begged me to name Lila and I truly did consider it..it is so pretty), Lilly Danielle Hardy, McCoy Jeremy Hardy, and Jack Shawn Hardy. So funny that at 8 he plans on four kids..two boys...two girls..and I love the names...how cool is the name McCoy? where did he get that? Colt McCoy maybe? who knows! Rollins then announced he was going to have twin girls...Hallie and Hannah and one little boy named Ryder (which was the next boy name on my list had we had another boy). They got a piece of paper and wrote them down so they would be remembered forever. It was so funny to hear them talk about something so far away from their lives now...a future so far away...I mean, Rollins is still upset because he has not lost any teeth yet. And one day, I do hope to have all these babies...tons of grandchildren to love and spoil but for now I just want to enjoy the parents of my future grandchildren while they are my babies.I was reflecting on this as I did the dishes after supper and the kids had scattered  back down to the play room. I was lost in thought when Riggs opened the door from the basement and came and wrapped his arms around me and said....I know the person I marry will have names she likes and family names that she might want to use too...the names I picked tonight are just the names I like so they are just ones I will share with her, ok mom?  I hugged him back and told him that was wise and thoughtful. As he bounded back down the stairs to rejoin his basketball game...going back to being a little boy...I stood there in prideful astonishment about how sweet and truly wise that was for him to consider his wife's feelings and opinions about baby names...he is 8...only 8, but has a heart wise beyond his years. Whoever Riggs falls in love with someday....whoever she is...and I know she's out there somewhere.....she is a lucky girl. Sending you love, sweet girl, out there somewhere in the world...I hope you love my Riggs more than life one day...because in his own way...he is already loving you.

Homework treasures

I fell like I am always pulling out a treasure form Rollins' back pack...this child has a heart of gold. Here is his reading response from Diary of a Wimpy Kid and how it makes him think of friendship and his best friend Braden. I am speechless...his heart just keeps amazing me! He writes: "a best friend is important because my best friend has a seizure and I helped him"  And this little boy is at the ready for the next seizure or anything else that may come Bradens way...for the rest of his life. Special... his heart is so special and so unique and selfless...I can't wait to see where this heart will take him in life.

What Sarah Kate is thankful for in 2010

Sarah Kate came bounding out of preschool today with her Thanksgiving turkey art...with turkey made from her precious hand..and around it all the many things she was thankful for...at almost 5...her list was long and maybe it it different from yours but it was from her beautiful heart and touched by the sweetness of a little girl. A few highlights other than her family...were her barbies, her pretend make-up, her pink room, her bows and her outfits...melt my heart, little girl!!! I love you!
