It's the little things that mean the most.....

When I pray for these children my prayer is for them to have kind, loving hearts....this is our life...our journey...our Hardy Hearts....

happy place

On of the happiness places I know is my front porch swing...with the kids playing right where I can glance up and see them...feet propped up...and with a good book in my lap.  I have read some great books this summer and I am loving getting wrapped up in characters that somehow a few pages in became my friends for just a little while. I love a little light summer reading and I do love a story that is etched in love...two books I just finished that I really enjoyed for summer reading are Beautiful Disaster and Slammed and if you loved Fifty shades of Gray..then check out Barred to you too.  Happy Reading!

50 shades

Dear Blog,
I am so sorry I have neglected you since this book came into my life.
As the craziness stirs around me with all that I have going on right now...I gave each extra second I could squeeze to read a few pages of this book...in the line at carpool....while running a bath....at a stop light....
while cooking dinner.....
I found it to be quite addictive.....I just love a good tragic love story......
Really?! It was just delicious......and not just because it was sexy.....although it did stir feeling inside me...not ones to be tied up in bed...if that is what you are thinking...... ;)

It reminded me of our inner desire...and need .....to be and feel wanted....how we all just need that...and how we all have a past that has helped to shape who we are today.....
but finally I have finished all three books and I will miss Christian Gray oh so very much now that he will not be in my daily life...but rather on a book shelf in the family room....
I can't wait until the movie comes out! Laters Baby!

Battle of the books

My Riggs just continues to amaze me....he tries so hard in everything that he does. He is currently participating in Battle of the Books at Goshen. I think everyone has to read a 2 or so books out of 10 that are selected. Riggs wanted to be on the all star team so he read all 10 of them and is now working on reading all of them again...so he knows them really well. He does these above and beyond things all on his own....I am so impressed by this young man.  I have read a few of them along the way too...my favorite book so far has been Because of Winn Dixie...I just fell in love with the characters I think.
and there are so many little gems of wisdom in this book....simply put....like this one....
I plan on loving Riggs...and all my littles in a very big way while they are here....right with me...in their childhood....hoping that each day I etch a little more love in them...enough love to last a life time.

Her time

“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
- Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"

Sarah Kate has a need for her time....time away from the others 5 people who live in the house....time in a quiet room with her books. She just needs it and I am so happy she makes this time for herself.

Sk's first tooth fairy visit!

Sarah Kate lost her first tooth! It was the tiniest little tooth you ever did see......
She was excited for her visit from the tooth fairy! She placed her tooth in a baggie under her pillow with this note......Dear tooth fairy, I would prefer books instead of money please....love, Sarah Kate

And you know what that tooth fairy delivered! Sure enough there were 3 new books under her pillow the next morning and the tooth was gone! I love how much she loves to read and how kind the tooth fair was to her!

Books from the heart

The kids and I went to Shelbyville to deliver Sarah Kate's books today.  We choose the Center for Women and Families in Shelbyville as they service families in Oldham and Trimble Country. The center is very secure for the safety of the women and children inside. We were buzzed in and able to drop off the books to the director. Within the walls of the center you could almost feel the sadness...women and children with no where to go...coming in these doors for help...and maybe a way out to a new life. It is our hope that these books may find their way into the hand and life of children that need them...that they may offer an escape into a story for a moment...they they may bring a smile. It was a good little road trip for the kids and I to take as we get so close to Christmas.

Pink pink pink

There was a time in my life when I truly believed I would only be a mother of boys...Jeremy had a brother who had only boys, my sister had boys, my brothers Cam and Heath had boys...it was blue and batman and so fun...but we had lived in this world of little boys for so long that the idea of pink and barbies seemed so unreal...and truly to me there are times when it is still unreal...or maybe surreal...when I am over come with emotion by just walking into the sea of pink the girls call their room. Tonight was one such occasion....after baths two sweet smelling little ladies went running down the hall to their beautiful pink room. When I peeked in on them they were lost in their books....so engrossed in their stories that they did not know I was even taking their picture. Beautiful babbles floated from Lila's mouth as she told her story and Sarak Kate was in heaven...and I was in awe of the beauty of my girls in their pink room!
