Although I had too much to do at home...we headed to Bardstown today for a little hiking at Bernheim Forest. Jack and Colin were here so on a whim we all just packed up and went! Sometimes it's the impromptu trips are the most fun!
When we arrived the first thing we explored was this house of sticks....
It was very cool and the kids played tag in it!
Then we headed to our first trail.....
This one had a beautiful bridge overlook!
The boys had the best time...boys and woods just go hand in hand!
It truly is a beautiful place and it was a gorgeous day!
We did a creek bed trail and brought home some perfect skipping stones to try out on the pond.
It was funny to hear the boys talk and go back and forth about whatever topic they were talking about.....
On the way home we watched the movie The Sandlot...and they laughed and laughed....I feel like Riggs and his friends are having a sandlot summer...one they will forever remember...as they savor the little pieces of independence they are getting....and funny things they laugh about.
So here's to a Sandlot kind of summer!
