It's the little things that mean the most.....

When I pray for these children my prayer is for them to have kind, loving hearts....this is our life...our journey...our Hardy Hearts....

Rumble in the Jungle 2011

Today was the first cross country meet of the season! We were all excited for the Rumble in the Jungle! I took the boys and we danced all the way there to the song fly...singing I came to win! Windows down, hair blowing, music cranking....excitement was in the air!
As we parked the music was turned off and the boys got out of the truck and walked toward the Rumble...taking in how big this meet is...and the fun excitement turned quickly to a nervous excitement...
Numbers were put on....a first for Rollins...this was his very first meet!
The team gathered for warm ups....motivation....and it was time to get focused....
Riggs was so excited to have Colin there...with him...on the team!
We all made sure to let Rollins know we were so excited for his first meet!
The sisters were there to support and cheer in their shirts that said....Go Riggs & Rollins!
Numbers on...spikes tied...prayers said...it was time to run...

They were off....and it truly was a rumble as the stampede of boys came toward me...around the first turn it looked like Riggs was in 5th place...but this was only the beginning...and soon they disappeared into the woods and all we could do was wait...wait to see who would emerge first...wait to see how both boys would do...
When I saw the first glimpse of color it was green and yellow...Brandt as expected...and then right behind him was more green and  yellow...and it was Riggs!
Riggs passed by me and I was so proud of him...he headed to the finish line right behind Brandt.
He was the runner up in the Rumble...running a 6 minute flat mile on a rough course...and 5 seconds off the course record...one happy boy down....but now where was Rollins.....

I turned back to the course and there he came....trying so hard...running so fast!
He came in 28th....out of hundreds...and he is only in second grade...He ran a 6:40 mile and got a medal! He too was a happy boy! It just feels good to give it all and have it pay off!
They were so happy for each other and found each other right away! They are so close  and now they have  this love of running to share....it makes my heart swell....
I love how the 6th graders came and found Riggs right away to pat him on the back...it meant so much to him! They now run for North Oldham and Riggs looks up to them so much!
Really? could happy look any cuter on a kid?
 Finally Daddy found us.....
 He was so proud!
 We all were!

At the awards ceremony Rollins proudly held his first XC medal!
Riggs ....with his shy smile...humbly accepted his runner up trophy!

The Goshen boys came in second overall as did the girls! It was a great first meet and we were so proud of all the kids!
 We were all emotionally spent.....
 but happy.....
Later that night the littlest littles were at Bumpa and Grandpa's and Riggs and I went to 32 degrees for yogurt. I loved sitting across from him and listening to him replay the race....the day...talk about the results...the times...he loves it so much....and I sure love him! He is already setting goals for the Rumble next year and we are all looking forward to our next meet on Friday!
