It's the little things that mean the most.....

When I pray for these children my prayer is for them to have kind, loving hearts....this is our life...our journey...our Hardy Hearts....

Yikes! Spikes!

After begging me, working his butt off and giving his heart to cross country this season I got Riggs some spikes to run in...they had to be ordered and they came in the mail today!!! Riggs was so happy and beaming from ear to ear when he saw them after school! We took them to practice tonight and after practice proper he put them on and took a lap...to try them out. It made him feel so good that a few of the older boys came up to him to tell him they liked his spikes. These shoes were, in a way, a right of passage for him...he can run with the big boys now! He is so cute...hard work and success look good on this kid!

Early release day...round 2

Today was the second early release day of the school year....and they are just the best! The half day they spent at school was Kentucky Kids day so their school day was about how special they are...and every parent sent in a letter for their child telling them what makes their child special. Jeremy and I were very pleased with the letters we sent in for the boys and we are very pleased with the boys we have...we are so blessed to have such amazing kids!  I tried to keep the special flowing into the afternoon by picking them up for early release day along with many of their friends! We had the best afternoon...they had fun being together playing football.................

We went to the creek.....................

And we they had a big race...where  the kids were eliminated one at a time...narrowing it down with every race...they had so much fun doing this!

The whole gang in the first race!

narrowing the field

The final 2 were Riggs and Colin

go Riggs!

Best Buddies......Always and forever!
The races ended with Riggs and Colin saying they were not sure who really won...giving each other a high five and being an example of friendship....these two are amazing boys and amazing friends! It was just a fun day and I enjoyed watching every minute of it! It makes you feel good way down deep when you do something amazing for your children....and they thought an afternoon with 10 boys in the backyard was an amazing thing for me to plan for them!

Oh Happy Fall Sunday!

She has arrived! Fall swept in today with her chill and I happily welcomed her with boots and a scarf and a homemade pot of chili!  It was an amazing Sunday that started with a fun trip to waffle house with my precious children.....I was able to sit back and watch them happily talk about their friends and school while they ate their breakfast.  Sarah Kate and Lila enjoyed their waffles...while Riggs and Rollins ate their full plates of egg, sausage and waffles...and all the while watching Rollins carefully stack each bite in the perfect order...one piece of egg, one piece of sausage..followed by one piece of waffle...and then putting this big bite in his tiny mouth! They are amazing...these kids of mine...and as I sat at a booth in waffle house...hands wrapped around a steaming mug of creamy coffee....I felt warm all over.

After Breakfast we went straight over to the park for a little walk on the nature trail. It was there we met up with Ashley and Henry and we were delighted that they joined us for our walk down to the creek where we found monkey brains on the ground and touches of fall all around us!

Back at the house our welcome fall day had a bit of a hick up as the children gathered in the court for a lemonade stand....it is hard to say goodbye to summer but with our final lemonade stand we say farewell...see you next year!

Can Rollins play with the big boys?

I will admit that I was a nervous wreck about this soccer game...but still we were all excited about Rollins' debut as a  U10 Jammer. We were not sure how much he would play but we were all there to support him no matter what happened! When we arrived he went straight to the bench and of course did not start...after all he is only  6...and just a peanut!  He clapped and cheered and waited patiently for his turn....and then in he went...and he tried so hard.....
See that huge kid in white beside him!

And then it happened...the first goal of the game...there he was.... this little tiny boy with the biggest heart and the best hustle at the goal kicking it in as hard as he could! He shoots! He scores! And he turned and with the biggest strides ever ran back down the field to high five coach Jonathan as we cheered and clapped like he had just won the World Cup!

Man, this kid is all heart all day long and I admire him so much for that!

Touchdown Rollins!

Rollins went to flagfootball practice this afternoon, but we could only stay for 10 minutes of the game until we were off to soccer. The game started and in a blink it was time to go..."just one more play, moma!....please" And with that he went back to the field and scored a touchdown! Amazing!!

Ladies on the town!

We celebrated Felisha's birthday tonight in style...and truly we were a fashion statement in our fancy pink limo! Sarah Kate thought it was "the most car in the whole entire world"!

We  were ladies on the town so we headed to Corbits for cocktails......

Then it was another Limo Ride to Volare...and we laughed and danced all the way there!

At Volare we had a few drinks....yummy food and alot of fun! We presented Felisha with her birthday cake and sang to her...Happy Birthday and a little Stevie Nicks too!

After our fun time at Volare...the Limo ride to Molly Malones felt like a time warp to me....I felt free and fun...and that felt good to let go for a few minutes with some of my friends!

Molly Malones was a time of ups and down and a continued good time! Life was clearer for me at Molly Malones as I watched the young crowd swirl around me...and I felt old and out of place. I saw a group of girls watching as my friends danced around...judging them....and when I got the chance I told them that one day they might wake up and be married with four little kids and the nights out would be few and they would have to make the most of them.Their eyes softened and they smiled at us after that...we weren't cougars just hot momas out, on a rare occasion, celebrating a friend who needs a little celebration.... and it felt wonderful!

Happy Birthday Felisha!
